Revd Steph comes to St Cuthbert’s as Pioneer Priest

St Cuthbert’s Church - a growing community called to be sent into Darlington town centre. 

As St Cuthbert’s begins its journey in becoming a resource for Darlington, we are delighted to welcome another member of the team: on 25th June, Revd Stephanie Price was licensed by Bishop Paul Butler during a joyous service, where friends new and old gathered to worship God and welcome Steph.

Revd Steph comes to St Cuthbert’s as Pioneer Priest, with a heart to reach out into the community, to see lives transformed by the love of God and to see new expressions of faith develop in the most unexpected places. During the service Bishop Paul challenged Steph with the question ‘should you be in church today?’. This may seem an odd thing to ask a member of Clergy, but Steph’s time is to be mostly spent outside the church doors, building relationships, serving the town, and growing new communities. So hopefully people will start to see her out and about and say hello; she’ll be easy to spot in her dog collar.

Bishop Paul reminded us all during his talk that ‘all are invited to God’s great feast’ - and that as St Cuthbert’s we are to be the people who invite others to the table.
