About Us
We are a gathered congregation of friendly, welcoming people from across Darlington and the surrounding villages, who come together as a living witness to the love of God for us all. For the first 600 years of its life, St. Cuthbert's was the only church in Darlington, but now our parish boundary is extremely small, covering just the very centre of town. We warmly welcome newcomers and offer an extended welcome to hundreds of visitors from across the world.
Our church is more than a building – it is our people, and our Parochial Church Council and several subcommittees work hard to serve the church and the wider community. As a PCC, our priorities are:
- To provide, grow and maintain a visible and practical Christian presence at the very heart of our town
- To work together with our sister parish of Holy Trinity Church to welcome all to be part of a community with pastoral care and mission at its heart
- To protect and preserve our amazing building, as its custodians, by continuing our programme of essential restoration and conservation, in order to ensure the building serves and is accessible to all
