Weekly Worship

Sunday Parish Communion - 11:00am

During term time this is a Sung Eucharist using liturgy from Common Worship and including a sermon, hymns, readings and a choir anthem. Many people from the congregation take part by reading lessons, leading prayers and administering the Chalice. Afterwards we get together for refreshments and conversation in the church hall, to which everyone is warmly invited.

Wednesday Holy Communion - 10:30am

A small and friendly community gathers midweek for a said service from Common Worship.

Saturday Choral Evensong - 5:00pm

On the 2nd Saturday of each month we bring together a massed choir to provide music for Choral Evensong. The service provides a space for peace and contemplation, accompanied by beautiful choral music. The tradition was established in 1549 and has changed very little since! Services include readings, hymns, an anthem and sung psalms, canticles and responses, as well as a homily. We are proud to be building a community of singers, exciting guest conductors and friendly congregation around this service. You can expect to enjoy a warm welcome, fellowship over a glass of wine at the end of the service and all are invited to join us for an optional meal in Darlington Town Centre afterwards. To find out more about singing with the massed choir, booking a place for the meal or any aspect of Choral Evensong, please contact us.

FAQs

We recommend that you arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of the service.
Where should I park?
For those less able to walk, we have limited parking in the church yard. However there is plenty of parking in town centre car parks. Alternatively there are excellent public transport links to Darlington Town Centre.
How long is a service?
Sung Eucharist is normally 1 hour 15 minutes. Evensong lasts around 1 hour and said services last for around 45 minutes.
Are children welcome to attend?
Children and young people are warmly received at St. Cuthbert's. There is a children's area to the rear of the church for little ones, but all are welcome to take part in the service. We also have age-specific pew bags, which help to keep children engaged.
What if I have a disability or additional needs?
At St. Cuthbert's we aim to make the building and the services as accessible as possible. The building has wheelchair and mobility scooter access through the South Door and is fitted with a hearing loop. Large-print service sheets are also available. If there is anything we can do to improve your experience, please do let one of the Church Wardens know.
I am interested in confirmation. What should I do?
We welcome anyone who wants to explore their faith and seeks to be confirmed. Please contact us for more information.
