School Chaplain
St. Cuthbert's is working with DACYM (Darlington Area Churches Youth Ministry) to employ a chaplain at Polam Hall school to serve the students and build stronger links with St. Cuthbert's.
Reporting and Accountability: Reporting to the project Director of DAYCM. Termly management with representatives from Polam Hall School, DACYM and the Poor Moor trust.

Salary: £21,200 - £22,500 pro-rata (37.5 hours per week), dependant on relevant experience.
Hours: Between 20-25 hours per week, to be agreed with the successful candidate.
Purpose:
To work with Polam Hall School to support the staff in providing an education that is grounded in Christian values, welcoming those from all faiths and none, promoting the spiritual and moral development of each person and encouraging rich and diverse cultures.
To work across the full range of the school, from reception to Year 11 with an initial emphasis on Years 4-8.
Spiritual:
To mobilise, encourage and support any groups interested in Christian spirituality.
Working with the Vice Principal, to contribute to school assemblies, Readings, collective worship and other events which support half termly themes.
To participate in the extra-curricular and/or activities provision, leading groups or activities which support a Christian ethos and belief.
To develop a reflection/prayer space in the school, which is welcoming and inclusive.
To make aspects of faith a visible and living part of the school experience for students, staff and families.
To be a resource for the Humanities faculty in the teaching of Religious Studies, PSHE and other subjects as appropriate.
Pastoral:
To offer support and guidance to pupils, families and staff.
To build the capacity for additional Listening Post support for students.
To support the school’s provision for vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils.
To link with the Attendance and Welfare Officer in order to ensure coordinated support for students.
Worship and Community:
To contribute to the organisation of services, collective worship and events, for example Carol Concerts, Leavers’ Readings and Prizegiving.
To arrange visits from Christian and other spiritual leaders in the community and to lead on faith-based events in the school calendar such as Interfaith Week.
To work with St. Cuthbert’s Church and develop further links with the local community of Churches and faith groups.
Connect the school with the Diocese, local churches and other faith organisations.
To contribute to and/or lead charitable projects.
To work with the School Councils and other pupil and staff groups.
To contribute to written reports on Christian Distinctiveness to the Academy Council, Standards and Safeguarding committee and to other reports as required.

To contribute to the whole professional life of the school, with teaching and learning as its core purpose and contribute to the commitment for each pupil to gain meaningful and enriching experiences.
To promote the Woodard Christian ethos that embraces all faiths and none.
To support and promote inclusion.
To take responsibility for their own professional development and support that of colleagues where appropriate.
To attend staff meetings and training as appropriate.
To follow Woodard Academies Trust policy and procedures in relation to keeping children safe in education.
